    Children will visit educational stations on fish biology, knot tying, fishing ethics, and casting. After these short learning sessions, they will receive a free fishing pole and bait. Historically, many children catch fish, which adds to the excitement of the morning.

    Mario Padilla, Butterfly Pavilion Entomologist and Beekeeper - Mario will speak about the process behind backyard beekeeping and the satisfaction and pleasure in the hobby.  Mario will also talk about beekeeping programs at Butterfly Pavilion and how the Pavilion is using open space to support honey bee colonies.

    The 15th annual Broomfield Trail Adventure will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016. BTA 2014The event will be hosted at East Park, in the Interlocken area (280 Interlocken Blvd.).

    As always, the event will take place on National Trails Day and will be one of many events celebrated across the country to celebrate trails and the outdoors. Please join us at East Park for a scenic walking loop (2.5 miles) or a biking route on the newly opened US-36 Bikeway Trail. There will also be a short loop around the East Park area for children and families. Dogs on leash always welcome! Check out maps of the designated routes.

    There will be a variety of prizes, refreshments, and educational tables at the event for the whole family. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the event will kick off at 8 a.m. This event is free of charge and will be held rain or shine.

    The Broomfield Bird Club will hold their first official meeting on Monday, July 25th at 7:00 pm in the Bronze Room at the Broomfield Community Center on 280 Spader Way.  Our speaker will be David Menough, owner of Wild Birds Nature Shop in Arvada and known for his radio show Bird Talk on AM radio 710.   David will speak on setting up a backyard habitat to attract birds and will bring items for sale.  All levels of birding experience welcome.  For more information, contact Rob Bodine at rmbodine1@msn.com or 303-466-6061.

    Come enjoy pancakes and sausage and support the Broomfield Open Space Foundation. Tickets are $10 each, or purchase two for $25 and get a membership to the Foundation.  Members at the $25 level who attended the Brewing event must purchase pancake breakfast tickets at $10 each.

    Tickets can be purchased at the door or on our website.  To purchase tickets on our website,  click the "Support" tab and look for the "Pancake Breakfast Tickets" tab.

    Broomfield is part of a landmark study on urban coyotes across the Denver metro area. Project partners include Colorado State University, the National Wildlife Research Center, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and other local governments. Learn about Broomfield's research findings related to coyote behavior, biologic information, and genetic data.
