Broomfield Nature Lover’s Calendar – Photo submission guidelines
• Calendar will be a 12-month annual “Broomfield Nature Lover’s Calendar” wall calendar featuring 1 large photo and 1 smaller photo each month of the year of Broomfield Opens Spaces and Trails: Nature, Wildlife and Outdoors. Photos must be taken in Broomfield Open Spaces or shared Open Spaces, see below.
• Photos for the larger full page images work best as horizontal photos. Photos for the smaller images next to the monthly grid, should be vertical. See example below. Note that some photos may be cropped and/or sized to fit the space.
• Your photo submissions will be donations to the Broomfield Open Space Foundation that may be used in the Calendar and/or in BOSF newsletters. Any use will have proper credit to the photographer. The Calendar will be for sale as a fundraiser for the BOSF.
• Photo submissions are open to anyone who visits and photographs Broomfield Open Spaces, you do not have to be a Broomfield resident.
• A panel of judges will choose the best 25 photos for the Calendar. Photos chosen will feature the Photographer’s name credit next to their photo in the Calendar. Your photograph will be a donation and a chance to share your work with the community. Judging will be facilitated by the Broomfield Photography Club.
• Photo submissions must be of only Broomfield Opens Spaces, Trails and Wildlife. This can include Carolyn Holmberg Preserve, McKay Lake, Metzger Farm, and Stearns Lake which are open spaces shared with neighboring communities. See this interactive map to find Open Spaces: https://ospt.broomfield.org/ openspaces
• People are not allowed in your photos, unless they are not identifiable. For example, if they are too far away to see a face, or their back is to the camera. • Photos cannot have a signature or photographer watermark. Please include the location and any wildlife in your photo in the file name, see next step >
• File naming convention: Start file name with the letter “C” for Calendar, then number 1, 2, 3 etc. Photographer’s name first, then Location name second, then type of wildlife if included.
• Example: C1 Jane Doe – The Field – Hummingbird
• You can submit up to 6 photos. Photos are due no later than July 25, 2026. Email your submissions to the Broomfield Photography Club email: broomfieldphotoclub@gmail.com Put Calendar in the subject line
• Recommended resolution: 3600 pixels in the long dimension. File format needs to be a .Jpg. For example: your photo should be at least 2400 x 3600 pixels (or 3600 x 2400 for vertical) For Smart Phone photos, save them large or original size and save them as a Jpg
