From Bur Oaks to Narrowleaf Cottonwood, today’s urban forest canopy denotes the human presence on the prairie landscape here in Broomfield. Join the Open Space and Trails Department for a conversation with the new City and County Forester, as we mark the annual celebration of Arbor Day – And Broomfield’s 33rd year as a “Tree City,” along with a summary of the History of Arbor Day itself. Have you always wondered – what trees are native? Introduced? Are there fire adapted trees and shrubs?  And what benefits do these sentinels of nature contribute to our community? Trees provide us much more than you might guess!
