DESCRIPTION:2020 Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby every year\, the Broomfield Open Space Foundation\, in cooperation with the City and County of Broomfield and Colorado Parks & Wildlife\, sponsors a free Kids’ Fishing Derby for ages 6 to 12 years. After a brief fishing clinic\, kids will be provided with a pole and bait! Adult supervision and registration are required. This event is sponsored by the City and County of Broomfield Open Space and Trails Department\, Broomfield Open Space Foundation\, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. \nFREE Registration is required at B-REx.com \nRegister for a one-hour time slot at 8\, 9\, or 10 a.m. \nThis year’s event will be held on:\nSaturday\, May 2\n8 – 11 a.m. \nTom Frost Reservoir\nBroomfield County Commons Open Space\nWestlake Drive & Lowell Boulevard \nPlease park at the County Commons Open Space Trailhead (access from the west side of Westlake Drive & Lowell Boulevard) and walk to the pond. Please note that parking at the Westlake Drive trailhead is limited\, with extra parking available at Paul Derda Recreation Center. Fishing poles and any fish caught can be taken home to keep the excitement going!

In this talk Paige Singer\, Conservation Biologist for Rocky Mountain Wild\, will explain how this project uses citizen scientists to help maintain remote-triggered cameras and catalog the wildlife captured in photographs and videos. DESCRIPTION:On March 6th The Speaker Series will host a discussion on “Pikas in Peril: Engaging Colorado Citizens in Pika Conservation” For nearly 8 years\, the Front Range Pika Project\, co-directed by the Denver Zoo and Rocky Mountain Wild\, has engaged Coloradoans in citizen science research on the impacts of climate change on the distribution and habitat characteristics of the American Pika. Erica Garroutte the Conservation Outreach Coordinator for the Denver Zoo will lead a discussion on lessons earned on how to develop and implement collaborative citizen science programs that support management needs. \n
